Jack Nowell "
The last season, you beat the French team at Paris : it’s a particular match to play the French team ?
JN : Playing any French side you always know you are going to be in for a tough test, especially at international level. I remember the atmosphere in Paris was amazing, but to win the game and also the Six Nations and the Grand Slam, it made it a very special occasion for all of us in the squad.
The last season your team realized a very beautiful season by ending second of Guiness Premiership and qualified in Champions Cup Quarterfinal :
How did you live this season ?
JN : It was a great season for everyone at the club, we achieved things last year that had never been done before. Getting to the last eight of Europe, especially with all the excitement of that last day, is something we will all remember. As for reaching the Premiership final, if we’re honest with ourselves we didn’t really turn up in the early stages of the game and that’s something you can’t afford to do against a side as good as Saracens. We fought back really well and to score in the final was another highlight, but hopefully we can learn from all the experiences and be an even better side moving forward.
This year it is a little more difficult in Champions Cup how explain you that ?
JN : We always knew this year would be tougher, just because of what we did last season. No longer are Exeter seen as the underdogs that they were perhaps seen as in the past. Teams know all about the threat that we can pose. Also, coming up against Clermont Auvergne and Bordeaux Begles again, I’m sure they wanted to gain some revenge for last season as well. We are in a tough pool, against three of Europe’s top sides, plus we’ve had a few big injuries as well which hasn’t helped us. We’ve been competitive in a lot of the games, it’s just a shame results haven’t quite gone for us.
Exeter and UBB is rather close in their approach to the rugby because the observers often define as two teams very offensive :
JN : Yes, both sides like to play attacking rugby, which is great for the supporters. Whether or not we get a game like last season, I’m not too sure. Last weekend’s game was very close and I expect this weekend to be the same. Hopefully, the result will be different this time.
You have already visited Bordeaux ?
JN : No, this weekend will be my first visit
Do you know players of the UBBTeam ?
JN : No, only through watching them on video or if I’ve come up against them with England
We have for Defense Trainer Joe Worsley ? What memory have you of Joe as rugby player ?
JN : I remember him from when I was young and know he was a tough player, always willing to put his head in where it hurts.
